The New Student

A new student arrived in our class in the middle of the term.

She spoke quietly and sat near the window.

Nobody talked to her during the first week.

One day the teacher asked us to work in pairs.

I was her partner, and I was nervous.

She explained the problem clearly and even made a joke.

After that, our group grew bigger every day.
